DAY. 1 In the morning we leave from Angeles City to Olongapo through the Lahar fields created by the Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption. The biggest part of this city Porac has been diappeared and is now under the lahar (ashes, stones and lava). Our hotel is located in Barrio Barreto, directly on Baloy Beach. After we arrive in the hotel we spend the afternoon on the Baloy beach and also take our dinner in the restaurant on the beach. |

DAY. 2 After breakfast we go to Subic Bay. Subic Bay was till 1991 the biggest American Naval Base outside the U.S. Now it’s a big Economic and Duty Free Zone with a commercial harbor, airport and a beautiful yacht club. We go into the rainforest and visit the Jungle Survival Camp. Here the American pilots were trained how to survive in the jungle. We have our lunch with rice steamed in bamboo. We get a demonstration in survival techniques from one of the men of the Ayata tribes. We also visit an exotic butterfly and bird garden. Get mesmerized by Subic's Bamboo Bats and Flying Foxes. There are over 10,000 fruit bats, and these are the biggest of their kind in the world, roost in the protected forest reserve of Subic. There also live a Bamboo bats, which are considered the smallest in the world. |

Later we go further into the rainforest and visit a monkey colony. The monkeys come out of the jungle searching for foods, but be careful of the dominant males because the are sometimes a little aggressive. Then we take a typical Filipino dinner with many colorful dishes. In the evening we visit Olongapo and go to Hard Rock Café. Here, some of the Filipino top bands are playing we enjoy their performance and also the variety of Filipino dishes. |

DAY. 3 From Barrio Barretto we drive over to Subic to San Marcelino. From there to San Rafael and Aglao following the Marbella river up to Buhawen to the Lake Pinatubo. The small town of Buhawen is buried under the lahar. You can only see the bell tower and a part of the roof of the school and houses above the lahar. After dinner on the beach we leave for Angeles City or the starting point of our next travel module. |
